It looks okay, to be honest.  For some reason I thought it was some kind of meat dish involving mashing animal flesh into its own intestines.

Uhm, sausage is just animal flesh stuffed into its own intestines.  Unless this is another case of a word meaning something different in American English than in English English.

What is spotted dick? I saw a can of it in Wegmans. Looked like some kind of bread/custard thing?
