Why oh why do people take Ideo's "ideology" seriously?

Because people espousing stupid political ideas can be dangerous.  They can go from people pointing at them and laughing to invading Poland in a dozen years or so.  If you take them at face value, there's probably a better chance of stopping them before they get their hands on any real power. 

In Ide's particular case, I'm not sure how much of the idiocy he posts he himself takes seriously.  To the extent that he does take it seriously, it's clear that he's motivated by frustration over not achieving his personal (non-political) goals in life, which probably makes it more likely that he ends up shooting up a McDonald's or a mall somewhere rather than ever holding any political office.  That's a better outcome the country as a whole than him ever being in a position to actually make or influence public policy, but would suck for anyone who happened to be in the place he shoots up.

Prostitution is one of those things where it doesn't make sense to keep it locked down as a criminal enterprise, but even if legal/regulated/taxed, all that good stuff, will still always be seen as a "low class" activity that often has soul-crushing effects on most of those involved.

High-end, glamorous escorts will be an exception, of course...but like very rich people in society, I think that will always be a tiny minority.
