How a major terrorist attack unfolds, those involved and it's victims.

Saw this documentary about a IRA terrorist attack in 1972 and thought it well illustrated how an attack happened and showed the differences between how terrorism was conducted then and how it happens today.

Worth a viewing:

Incidentally the graphic images it contains was show that evening on BBC television news, I remember it as an eight year old. And those television news reports contained still more graphic film, but that has been partially edited out of this documentary.

Mechanical coin-op parking meter timers make shitty detonation devices for a synchronized bombing campaign.  Woefully inaccurate, as any driver would know.

The IRA were really rather lovely as terrorist scum go with all their pre warnings and such.
They failed at their one chance of doing something good though. Feckers.

:hmm:

Did you watch the documentary or at least read the wiki about the events?
The Provos intentional made several false bomb warnings in the hours before the attacks, presumably to help generate gridlock in areas of the city, so when the attacks came the security forces couldn't react to short and often confused warnings given just before the real bombings.
Also because of the extended traffic jams several car bombs had to be abandoned in traffic by their 'delivery drivers' moments before the bombs went of. So the warnings for those were meaningless as they never got to the intended targets.
