The Americans have a fraudster as president so, comparatively not so bad

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

The Minsky Moment

Very bad idea to imitate things the US is doing if you want to win your wars . . .
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

No doubt. And the Ukrainians are not imitating the Americans.  I was just noting that it was odd that an American was criticizing the choice of Prime Minister, not based on the fact that the Prime Minister is a fraud Herbut based on the fact that the Prime Minister isn't involved in oil.  One or two of your presidents had had the same characteristic.

Also, I'm not sure why you deflected what the real reason was for the defence minister being removed. It had nothing to do with his replacement and everything to do with the conflict that was occurring between the head of the military and the defence minister.

Quote from: mongers on July 20, 2026, 09:51:30 AMOops not sure I've put this in the right thread, but couldn't find the discussion that was being had about this.

This is the better place for it.
It was an odd thread because I started by saying the ICC *should* investigate Ukrainian actions, but then somehow got accused of applying double standards.

Well, I'm waiting for that to happen.  I suppose it's good that we cut off aid to Ukraine.  At least until the ICC clear them.  That is the pro-human rights position.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I was arguing it would be good for Zelensky's legacy to not hang around too long. For Ukraine it might not work out great, true.

You cut off aid to Ukraine years ago and the US does not recognize the ICC's authority. Your opinion is irrelevant and worth nothing.

I thought you would approve.  That is why your country pulled out of Afghanistan back in 2014 or so, isn't it?  You didn't want to be party to war crimes?  I do remember that about 3/4ths of people in Quebec thought that that Coalition forces were engaging in war crimes.

I was deeply moved by your dedication to human rights.
