Booking tickets and just realised there's a big Savarkar biopic out - which doesn't seem great

Quote from: garbon on Today at 05:20:45 AMMaybe should have tried Nintentoesque route of banning fan mods for Stellaris. It was always going to be an uphill slog against a detailed, free mods based on latest version of Stellaris vs this was an earlier fork.

I'm reminded of the Stargate game mess. Fan games got absolutely destroyed when it was in development- the developers claim ignorance and said as they understand it (which seems true?) if the rights owner hear of a fan game then they legally have to destroy it or else they lose their copyright?
Maybe with mods its different?

Obviously nothing would work with the zealots. But for those whose vote is up for grabs I do wonder what the best tactics on this would be.
It obviously isn't Biden's fault...but how to communicate that.

There are few things Donald Trump loves more than taking advantage of people and pulling something over on people who think he's in their corner.

One theme for the current American radical right is the way they've turned on and jettisoned previous shibboleths and purity tests for their movement. Sure they evangelical right loves Israel, but if Trump could find a way to turn his base against Israel for his own gain (or ego) he'd have no compunction not to. And if the Trump base is given a choice between Trump or Israel, I think they'll break for Trump in large numbers.

EDIT: Not right now, of course. But soon enough.

And even then...isn't the Christian evangelical support of Israel based on some mad idea that they'll bring about the Second Coming/Apocolypse?  :hmm:

Once all the Jews of Israel convert to the one true god the apocalypse will start, IIRC.

Isn't the second coming a necessary precursor for this?

But even in a biblical apocalypse I could well imagine a divide would remain over whether its first or second and the man himself going "Guys. Its my 6th." wouldn't change anything :hmm:

Doing alright, both Elon Musk and Joe Rogan set up shop here which just goes to show that they both actually like being woke despite their internet posing.

Its all massive 4D chess to get fascist support then suddenly *bam* surprise. "We were libertarians afterall! Now I've finished not paying taxes I'm off to my big inter-racial multi-gendered orgy!"

My kids are thankfully well past the Paw Patrol phase, but I'm kind of surprised it's still going strong.  When my guys were little PP was just getting started.

My 4 years old niece is an absolute Paw Patrol fan.

Curious. I'd imagine the license would have cost a fair bit. Sad it hasn't worked out.

This poll was a joke. I was half curious to see if the languish rule of picture polls would apply to annoying cartoon dogs too  ;)

QuoteYou are just jealous I am cool with the kids!

I kind of miss the era when little kids actually watched TV so you knew what they were talking about and what they were interested in. Now my daughter just has her tablet and so when she finds something she is interested in I have to try to figure out what she is saying and then have to research it. And since little kids seem to love horror stuff so much these days my response is usually "what the fuck is this weird shit?"

I was out chaperoning my 11 year old sons choir class in the fall and they were taking internet quizzes about which Paw Patrol Pup they were and I was thinking "oh great when this generation finishes growing up we are going to have adult reboots like Barbie and Transformers about Paw Patrol aren't we?"
I've kept mine away from his own tablet so far and he isn't really confident using youtube himself...though with our aid he does get to watching some odd stuff.
A current favourite is some Japanese guy with 50 different Thomas toys, the sort that have a lever then move. He takes each of them, opens them up, puts a battery in, closes them again, and lets them go on a little round track he has built on a park table.
No narration. No special effects other than when they all appear at the very start. Just....

I had thought he would have escaped Paw Patrol but the influence of kids at nursery is working its magic on him. He also knows what Spiderman is despite never being exposed- zero interest in the cartoon itself. And Pacman thanks to an Oreo advertising board around the corner.

I must say I am jealous of this generation. Never will they have the horror I remember only two well of missing an episode of a show and never being able to see it ever again. Or at a later age cutting of my burgeoning football career because training was Monday night, which was Star Trek night.

Cloud Atlas was great. Speed Racer too.

edit- quick wiki check and I'm reminded V for Vendetta was them too. It was OK.
