Got an itchy trigger finger so I played Call of Duty this weekend. COD Warzone is the free to play version and it has a quasi-Battlefield 50vs50 Team Deathmatch Mode with vehicles.

Damn thing is an absurd blast. Bullets whizzing by constantly, explosions everywhere, crazy idiots in buggies and giant trucks driving 100mph running other idiots over and flying off cliffs Dukes of Hazard-style, and a ton of maps because it just reuses a bunch of locations from the main Battle Royale mode. It's insane and it's a blast. It reminds me of Battlefield when it was good.

The main battle royale map is just the regular MP maps combined.

I'm watching a playthrough of Outer Wilds and I regret that I paid no attention to the game before and have it probably spoiled for me now. It looks quite incredible.

If you like chill exploration, alien environments, lunar lander, and puzzles then it might be worth checking out.

Yes. I saw a pitch for it, and deliberately avoided everything else about the game - until I can buy myself a new console. Looks indeed incredible, and it won a ton of awards at the BAFTA.

You know, there's "retro" games with pixelated art and some chiptune. And then there's Black Jewel which goes all in on the C64 look and sound. :D

Gameplay seems firmly stuck in 1987 too   :D

'Planar Conquest' whilst not a Master of Magic clone, it's certainly inspired by it.

Worth checking out as it's a good and cheap as chips on steam.

edit:

Very Cheap as it's 90% in the steam sale, so like $2 !.

I don't think the game will win any prizes for graphical fidelity.  :hmm:

QuoteThe next Spiders game is about the French Revolution, but with robots

Spiders, the company behind Greedfall and Mars: War Logs, unveiled its new project today during the Nacon Connect online event. It's called SteelRising, and it asks a very Spiders kind of question: What if the French Revolution was fought by robots?

In SteelRising, you'll play as Aegis, the automaton bodyguard of Marie Antoinette, who has been ordered to seek out its creator in order to end the massacres being carried out by the robot army of King Louis XVI. It will be a more action-focused game than Spider's previous RPGs, we're told, with an increased focus on verticality and integrated level design to avoid jarring transitions from exploration to combat.

Aegis has a range of melee weapons, "alchemical rifles," and heavier weapons integrated into her body, which can be replaced or upgraded through the game through a range of unique side quests.

After Xcom and Xcom 2, I'm in need of a turn-based tactics fix.

Long War 2 seems a bit intimidating, has anyone here tried Phoenix Point?
