The amount of traction you can get once you get rid of the idea of objective truth and information is fascinating.

One scientist in the movie (the traditional kind, not the flat earther) said that we form our opinions based mainly on two things: what intuitively feels right to us, and based on our subjective observations.

There's also an interesting discussion there about the difference between being skeptical and being in denial: a skeptic is ready to test his hypothesis and challenge his assumptions. A person in denial has already concluded he knows the truth.

What about people who insist there isn't any truth, so you should just believe whatever you want to believe?

The irony is that flat earthers are the ones who will loudly tell you how skeptical they are, and that they aren't going to accept the word of the mass media and science, and will just "evaluate the evidence themselves".

It's funny how that works....

Man, you're such an asshole sometimes.

Thanks. Must be nice to know you are such a charming guy.

Finished F is For Family. They did a bit of a bait and switch this season, where it seemed everything was headed for a downer ending (esp. with the title of the final episode), but thankfully it ended on a note of reprieve. That said, there were several points during the show where you thought things would finally work out for the characters, only to get messed up again (usually through their own flaws and weaknesses), so I count this not as "Happy Ever After" but "Happy For Now" kind of ending.

Really enjoyed the run overall. Bill Burr and Laura Dern were great, and there was a pretty good cast of supports. Especially loved Jonathan Banks in season 4 (and 5, I guess).

It tread the line between dark comedy (sometimes very dark, in an Adam's Apples vein, often in various throw-away lines), drama and gross out humor quite well. Its depiction of a year in the 70s (each season covers, err, a season) 1973/74 was of course heavily satirized but also appropriately bleak (I remember hating watching US movies on TV in the 80s, because a lot of them were depressing 70s dramas. :D ). There's a fair amount of off color humor, but the way I saw it came in two stripes: the actually despicable bigots, misogynists and racists on the one side, and the casual every day prejudice of the day (and, let's be honest, modern day). I didn't feel it was presented as a way of "hey, remember how awesome it was when it was considered to be ok to say these things?" but almost entirely as negative (from the OTT bigots more so than the more regular folks, though, tbh).

I expected the pervasive cursing (Bill Burr created and wrote this, after all :P ), but not the amount of nudity and sex in the show. But I guess you can do that if you produce in Quebec. Be warned if you feel squeamish about boobs and balls and dicks in various states of arousal in your adult animation, I guess. :P

If the description above sounds like your jam, give it a try. I feel it flies under a lot of people's radar.

With that I'll give Bojack Horseman another try. It became a bit too bleak for me at the end of season 1 at the time (and I understand it goes down from there), but I feel I'm in a better mindset now to watch that.

Ghost Rider - Spirit of Vengeance (2011)

The scene where the Ghost Rider pisses fire is pure cinema genius; unfortunately the rest of the doesn't come close to living up to that.  It's mostly forgettable (although it may be the best sequel that has Christopher Lambert in it.)  The original Ghost Rider wasn't all that good, but at least it had Peter Fonda and Sam Elliot.  Spirit of Vengeance is mostly just dull throughout.
It was dreadful.  As I recall they tried to make up for all the crap by having a burning crane or something become his new steed.
PDH!

I think it was a tow truck; but yeah, that briefly became his steed.  It looked stupid; the CGI was pretty bad throughout.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

Back on topic.  Matrix Resurrection started with some interesting ideas but never delivered and ended up a disjointed mess.

It's their weakest season so far, but it's still decent. The Casino and Wellness Center episodes were a riot. The siren episode too.

And the season ends in quite a twist. But yeah, I'd agree it's the weakest season so far, although still pretty good.

Jemaine Clement left the show after season 2, and they clearly miss him.

It's still decent and I'm laughing but as I say big community gas leak year vibes.
The characters are kind of reduced to just a few key clichés "Hi I am Lazlo.oh look. Ancient porNOG-rapheee. Why I must masturbate".
With Colin Robinson it's particularly odd. He's moved up from just being annoying for food to actively being a don't give a shit about anything do whatever he wants arse hole.

I gave it a check. Besides the acting, Taika Waititi did some stuff for the 1st season (directed 3 episodes) and Jemaine Clement for the 1st  and 2nd seasons (directed 3 episodes and wrote 3  for S1 and directed 2 and wrote 1 for S2), but none of them were involved in S3 besides their roles as Executive Producers.
