Yes the scene where this happened was how Churchill turned a room full of British guys to support him against some other dude, by appealing to their shared experience in the trenches at various battlefields, including Verdun. It was not "I briefly visited Verdun when I was doing a PR visit, woe me".

And as Viper said: how many other ridiculous inaccuracies must be there that I missed if the creators are THIS lazy?

Must?

Zero.

I finished Carnival Row.
It's.... OK.
Nice to see a steam punk setting. And not just generic Tolkienesque fantasy with it. Big Bas-Lag vibes (man I'd love to see that series). I'm really curious about the world. Seems the faeries are some sort of China analogue.
But... The actual plot itself.... And the way things unfold. So generic and by the book. You see everything coming a mile away right down to how scenes unfold and are shot.
Also seems a bit Babylon 5y in that it foregoes entertainment today in favour of setting stuff up for future series that may never come.

I thought the show sounded really cool, but the first episode was pretty meh.

Finally some good nudity in Peaky Blinders.

I saw the first season of Babylon Berlin. It is a (non-procedural) cop show set in 1929 Berlin. If this sounds intriguing to you, then you'll probably enjoy it. Features pornographers, drag shows(several scenes are reminiscent of Cabaret), Trotskyists and a train full of gold and chemical weapons. Recommended.

Babylon is in Mesopotamia. Historical accuracy isn't in vogue among TV writers I guess.

The Deuce has a new season btw. I know you can't get enough of Maggie's sagbags.

Been binge watching some classic Dragnet.

Man, they recycled secondary actors so much you'd think it was using an ensemble cast.

I watched some old b/w episodes from the original run in the 50s. Real fun when you've just played L.A. Noire.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Saw Bohemian Rhapsody last night.  For a good portion of the movie, I was like "this movie actually kind of sucks, I can't believe it was nominated for Best Picture" but it grew on me, and at the end I decided I liked it ok.... but I absolutely loved Rami Malek's performance and I think his Oscar was well-deserved.

The glaring historical inaccuracies in the movie irritated me, too.  I am by no means a Queen trivia freak but I knew the 'how they met' scene in the beginning was all wrong, and I knew Queen didn't really break up and then suddenly get back together right before Live Aid (I watched that concert live, in fact, and yes Queen really did steal the show).

I binged Spy - couldn't stop watching.  Brilliant writing and acting.
