And yeah, try in the shop then buy online. It will piss the store off, everyone does that, but whatever
Play "Smoke on the Water" in the shop. They love that.

Last post, I promise: If I had the same interests as you seem to, MiM, I would definitely get a Gibson Les Paul.

I played one of these in the store today. My fears about the neck were unfounded. It had a nice feel. It's more my style than that shredzilla BurgerMaker posted.  :P

Edit: Don't want to wreck my fingers too bad though. We'll see.

A friend of mine had a Gibson Les Paul in high school, mainly because he wanted to be Slash (heck, he even looked alot like Slash).  He was pretty damn good, too.

Ok, make fun of me.

I bought a Gibson Les Paul Studio Silverburst. It's just so...perfect for me.

And gorgeous. It will not get much play time while my fingers toughen up. I seriously am in a state where my left hand fingertips are constantly numb right now. Typing feels weird.

I am weak. But! I also spent hours in the humidity room at Guitar Center playing like 30 different instruments. The dude at the store was really big on Taylor Guitars. I dunno. The one I liked best in there was a Martin DC-16 acoustic-electric. The reason: When I hit the fucker, it hit me back. I strike the strings, and the thing hits me in the chest. That's awesome. I actually feel the chord in my guts.

Jesus Christ, I'm spending way too much on this shit.

Edit: Also, fuck you. If my wife can spend 30k on a new kitchen, I'll spend whatever I damn well please on this. Don't tell her that I am also a big fan of the new kitchen plans. That might wear away my moral authority on the guitar purchases.
