Is it supposed to pay for infrastructure for electric vehicles or something?

Who cares what it pays for?  If it reduces consumption of gasoline then it will have achieved its purpose.
I'm up $25 on DGuller.

@charliekirk11

There are riots in socialist France because of radical leftist fuel taxes

Media barely mentioning this

America is booming, Europe is burning

They want to cover up the middle class rebellion against cultural Marxism

“We want Trump” being chanted through the streets of Paris

Somehow my President even manages to make this about himself. Impressive.

Chillax Valmy, this is Macron's régime not l'Ancien Régime despite having a "Jupiterian" monarch, so mutandis mutanda, elected King by divine right of himself.  :D
Plus, administration, as top government, is used in French media for the US govt only.   :P
As for régime, it was used for Sarko, Flanby and all others before, so no big thing.

Those mysterious ultra-right demonstrators defaced the Arc de Triomphe with graffiti demanding justice (Justice pour Adama) for a suburban thug who died in custody after repeatedly resisting arrest by gendarmes, possibly foul play but this has yet to be proved, or even better "l'ultra-droite perdra". So this is not too typical of the ultra-right I'd say.

Just a picture:

Executive summary: According to Castaner, ministry of the Interior, this is an ultra-right mobilisation of seditious elements, so police forces had to repel "seditious" forces. The ultra-right wants to attack "institutions" (democratic ones) as when they attacked a MP of Macron's party.

Castaner alludes to a jacquerie against a Macron party MP led by balaclava-clad yellow vests. An intrusion on the property of a local baron to be precise.

PS: Édouard Philippe, PM, announced a 6-month truce or moratorium for fuel taxes hikes. This should help if it's not too late.

Paris is unusually lively this weekend. :hmm:

Other steps to appease the popular anger were taken. Not enough to cancel demonstrations, and guess what, trouble and rioting still happened. Maybe less than last week. I had to take quite a detour since my family lives near the Étoile/Arc de Triomphe/Champs-Élysées area.

So more police, but less activity for businesses, except in wood barricade businesses.

You know, most of us can't read French, so posting stuff in French is kinda useless.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

The French speakers find it useful I'm sure.  Stop being such a right wing language xenophobe.

Yes, especially as Duque provided ups with a translated summary of what he thought was a key passage.

Almost like we've a French friend translating for us, I bet he'd be helpful on one's next trip to the continent, assuming no fog in the Channel.  :bowler:

Erdogan weighs in:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-12-08/paris-riots-grant-erdogan-rare-chance-to-attack-europe-on-rights

Quote
“We will never approve of violent expression of demands for rights, but all opinions and demands can be made clear in democracies,” Erdogan said on Saturday. “Those who mocked our police force, accusing it of brutality, should now look at their own police force. Europe has failed the class on democracy, freedoms and human rights.”
Here in these streets are the things that we want: sex and birth, votes and traits, money and guilt, television and teddy bears. But all we've actually got is each other. You decide what that means.
