Where are the Chargers going?

The LV move could make sense if they can pull in tourists.  Probably the only way it makes sense.

Fans of other teams having a Vegas weekend so they can watch their team play the Raiders.

That I can see. Still, it means lots of away team fans nullifying the home field advantage.

Tourists don't buy PSLs.

Doesn't even have to be ball fans.  Folks go to Vegas so they can Do Stuff and See Stuff.  Market it as just another Vegas attraction, but even better!  Upsell them on Authentic Raiders Fan Apparell and Outrageous Black and Silver Barbarian Outfits so they can get the full experience!

They go to Vegas to blow the mortgage payment on the game at the MGM Grand's Sports Book, not at the game.

For What Its Worth, the Vegas Golden Knights have been adamant that they want to market to locals and develop a local fan base, and not just have ticket comped to casino high rollers or whatever.

I mean, we'll see.  But they're pretty adamant on that point.

Basketball would make a lot more sense than hockey for Vegas.

Yet the NHL Vegas Golden Knights start playing in October 2017.

QuoteSeahawks rule 2.0: NFL bans leaping over line to block kicks
By Stephen Cohen Updated 12:34 pm, Tuesday, March 28, 2017

When the NFL announced a new focus on enforcing illegal defensive contact ahead of the 2014 season, it was seen as a response to Seattle's physical -- some might say too physical -- play in the defensive backfield, which made it no surprise that many chose to refer to the point of emphasis as the "Seahawks rule."

At the NFL's annual meetings in Arizona on Tuesday, the league passed what we'll call "Seahawks rule 2.0," which outlaws players from running forward to leap over the line of scrimmage in an attempt to block an opponents' kick.

The play gained recent notoriety after Seattle safety Kam Chancellor twice leaped over the Carolina line in order to try to block a field goal attempt just before halftime in Seattle's divisional round win over the Panthers in January 2015. Last year middle linebacker Bobby Wagner soared over the line to block a field goal attempt from Arizona's Chandler Catanzaro in an eventual 6-6 tie on Oct. 23, much to the chagrin of Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians.

The days of watching players soar majestically over the line are now over after Thursday's vote, which stipulates that an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty be assessed for a player "running forward and leaping in an obvious attempt to block a field goal or try kick (extra point), unless the leaping player was originally lined up on the line of scrimmage when the ball was snapped."

The Seahawks displayed their displeasure with the new rule on social media:

The reason for the rule change -- which was submitted by the Philadelphia Eagles -- was player safety, which is also why the change was backed by the NFL Players Association, but there have been no specific injuries cited from the type of play.

The league also issued a point of emphasis on ejecting and suspending players for egregious blows to the head of an opponent and passed several other minor rule changes, including:

- Making permanent the rule that disqualifies a player who is penalized twice in one game for certain types of unsportsmanlike conduct fouls.

- Changing the spot of the next snap after a touchback resulting from a free kick to the 25-yard line (for one year only).

- Giving a receiver running a pass route defenseless player protection.

- Making crackback blocks prohibited by a backfield player who is in motion, even if he is not more than two yards outside the tackle when the ball is snapped.

- Replacing the sideline replay monitor with a handheld device and authorizing designated members of the officiating department to make the final decision on replay reviews.

- Making it unsportsmanlike conduct to commit multiple fouls during the same down designed to manipulate the game clock.

- Making actions to conserve time illegal after the two-minute warning of either half.

The NHL has always been all in on ridiculous expansion in warm weather cities. This is not new.

Yeah, Vegas Midshipmen would've been better.

MadImmortalMan

Our baseball team in Reno (Diamondbacks AAA) is called the Aces. That's how you do it.

Vegas needs a Vegas name. Golden Knights is stupid and Raiders is used up. They need something else.
