What does a TRUMP presidency look like?

Twitter allows the mob to form instantaneously, and there's never anything useful in the mob mentality.

Whatever supervillian arises whose master plan is to permanently disable twitter worldwide, I will serve.

You may not be interested in the Twitterati, but the Twitterati are interested in you.

I was recently assured by our resident Progressive Experts that there is no space between what the Twitter Left believes and what all right thinking Democrats believe - they are one and the same. And hence all candidates should take their cues about what people want from Twitter.

Isn't there an issue that when things are reduced to small, compact forms (such as Donald Trump's tweets) it doesn't really matter what the NYT said under its headline as that's beyond the point of consumption now.

Maybe this needs it's own thread but I have been thinking about this for a while:

What would happen if Trump would die of natural causes this term or his next term of office?

That is easy.  President Pence.

Let me rephrase that. What would be the wider repercussions? Is there another person that can embody Trumpism as much as Trump? Will there be some kind of conspiracey-fuelled protests? Etc. etc.

Pence would have an advantage in Republican primary. There would be some small changes in rhetoric. Probably less tariffs and less wall talk.

As headlines go, "Trump Urges Unity vs. Racism" wasn't ideal, something the Times admitted by changing the headline to "Assailing Hate, But Not Guns" for the remainder of the print run. The paper issued an official statement calling the original "flawed" and Baquet put on the hair shirt. But the original Times headline—and please refrain from mounting a "fire Jack Shafer" movement until you finish this piece—was fairly accurate. Read or listen to Trump's speech. He literally condemned racism and called for unity!

While it's fair to ask whether Trump was sincere in damning bigotry and white supremacy, there's only so much work you can expect a headline to do in such a small space. That's why newspapers publish articles below headlines

90 to 95 percent of people who encounter the article will only see the article title on a Twitter feed.

Having a good title is thus more important than actually writing a good article.  And I don't think you can argue that just quoting the president verbatim with "Trump urgues unity vs Racism" accurately reflects what he was doing.

The underlined is more important than the bold. The headline should have been something like "Trump speaks out of both sides of his mouth on racsim."

Maybe Trump's not senile, maybe he's just blind.

QuoteAs President Donald Trump addressed the nation about the two mass shootings that had occurred over the weekend, he said, "May God bless the memory of those who perished in Toledo." The public reacted with alarm and derision—somehow, the president seemed to have moved the Dayton, Ohio, massacre to the wrong city, and he'd left out El Paso, Texas, entirely.

Pence wouldn't accept women votes for him, so his chances in an election would be reduced.
