Just before bed I stepped on the scale.
First thing in the morning I did the same again.
Nearly a full 2kg difference.
It is absolutely amazing how much weight is lost whilst you sleep.
I wonder where the two missing kilos went.  Did you also weigh the bedding before and after?

There is a youtube video/TED talk about "where does the weight you lose go?" chemically, as obviously it doesn't disappear by magic.  The basic summary was that while some is excreted of course, the bulk of it seems to come out as gases in normal respiration.

Ugh.  Today would have been my dad's birthday.  He would have been 69.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Because maps are cool.
It is fascinating how empty England really is, despite the 20th century push for sprawl.

How on earth can you think that shows England is empty?

England is basically one giant wildlife preserve.

I mean there are low density-ish areas, like people not wanting to live in mountains in Wales (WTF! OMG! WALES IS NOT ENGLAND!!!1111), but I can see how a North American would not be impressed.

Most of the map shows minimal density with only a few isolated islands of civilization
