I bought Civ VI yesterday. Hopefully less complicated than EU4.

I don't think EU4 is all that complicated unless you want to min-max. I am glad that they are getting rid of the insane estate actions though, that was not at all fun.

I agree.  That was the reason I stopped playing.

Thanks to the mods, I installed a no-estates thingie through the steam workshop. Game still gets stale around 1650, max.

That was not my experience of the first two EU games. I finished games pretty regularly.

The problem is that you can't be challenged for 400 years straight.  If you play well for the first 100 years, you're setting yourself up to snowball.

There's usually an early challenge, then a period of relative ease, followed by a bit more challenge again as you run into others who have blobbed
